Renovation of the College of DuPage Physical Education Building was completed in 2013. The center is the home base to nine men's sports teams and eight women's sports teams at the college. The expansion/renovation transformed an undersized 1980s-era facility into a multifunctional recreation center that accommodates athletic programs and also provides a fitness venue for students and community members.
Originally used as the college gymnasium, this building was renovated into a 35,000 square foot Campus Maintenance Center. The new facility features large heated storage for 17 small and 11 large vehicles, space for vehicle maintenance with mechanics bays and a wash bay, workshops, a signage shop, custodial space, employee offices, and a conference room. This building achieved the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
The new Malcom X College at the northeast corner of Jackson and Damen is currently under construction and is expected to be approximately 544,000 square feet with a 22,000-student-capacity and a stand-alone multi-level parking facility. Scheduled to open 2016, the facility will offer general and adult education programs as well as a School of Health Sciences featuring a virtual hospital.
The new Fox Ford and Lincoln dealership is under construction on North Elston Avenue on the northwest side of Chicago. The new facility will be 100,000 square feet and is being built on a seven acre site. This will be a three story building to house over 166 vehicles (parking structure over rear service area) as well as 40 mechanic’s lifts along with another 14 detail, quick lube, photo, and large vehicle service stalls.
